    THE defending champions Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-ADC) Magis Eagles started their 16th Cesafi season with a blowout win against the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) Baby Panthers, Tuesday, August 9, at the New Cebu Coliseum.

    SWU Cobras beat defending champ USC Warriors, 68-54

    THE Southwestern University (SWU)-Cobras won the season debut game against the defending champions University of San Carlos (USC)-Warriors, 68-54, on Sunday evening, August 7, at the New Cebu Coliseum, Cebu City.

    Both teams, with 10 new players in their line-up, battle their way to get the win, but the Cobras, led by the leadership of former two-time Cesafi Most Valuable Player Mark Tallo, nailed the victory. (READ MORE)

    Rookie Albina powers UV in Cesafi caging

    ROOKIE gunner Tristan Albina showed he is cut for the league as he led the University of the Visayas Green Lancers to a masterful 69-48 win against the Cebu Institute of Technology-University Wildcats in the collegiate match of the Cesafi Season 16 Basketball Tournament at the Cebu Coliseum last night.

    Albina, who joined the Lancers during the pre-season, scattered 13 points including three triples that helped the Lancers ease up a bit when they were playing stiff in the first 10 minutes of the game. (READ MORE)

    IN AN UNPRECEDENTED decision, Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) Commissioner Felix Tiukinhoy meted heavy penalties on the players involved in the bench-emptying incident in a Cordova high school pre-season tournament last Sunday.

    Tiukinhoy based his decision on the players of both the University of the Visayas (UV) and the Don Bosco Technological Center (DBTC) on the incident report filed by his deputy commissioner Danny Duran and referee Jebrel Calma. (READ MORE)

    I SEE Felix Tiukinhoy so often in Cesafi matches–often without fail–that I sometimes forget the busy businessman is involved in other interests as well as being president and chairman of Virginia Foods Inc. Lately, the Cesafi commissioner was in the news because of another hat he wears, the head of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Cebu, which will send a team for 10 days to come up with linkages with Canada’s businessmen.

    I thought, well, the very busy Tiukinhoy will have 10 days away from Cesafi concerns, but then again, I got a light-bulb moment. What if Cesafi hitches a ride to the Canada mission? (READ MORE)
