THE University of the Visayas Green Lancers head coach Felix “Donbel” Belano Jr. revealed his side of the story following an awe-inspiring Cinderella finish for his first Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) collegiate basketball title.
Belano believed the motivation and inspirational speeches from UV president Eduardo Gullas and his son Gerald Anthony “Didi” when the team’s spirits were already very low, that woke up the players. UV dethrones SWU
CEBU (Updated 11:15 p.m.) – The University of the Visayas (UV) dethroned Southwestern University (SWU) on Thursday and grabbed its 10th Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc (Cesafi) College Division men’s basketball crown after taking the deciding Game 5 of the best of five finals series,64-62.
SWU was poised to win the title as it held a 2-0 advantage entering Game 3 last Sunday but out of nowhere, UV struck back, winning Game 3 in double-overtime and Game 4 last Tuesday to forge the deciding match. (READ MORE)
