UV dethrones SWU

CEBU (Updated 11:15 p.m.) – The University of the Visayas (UV) dethroned Southwestern University (SWU) on Thursday and grabbed its 10th Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc (Cesafi) College Division men’s basketball crown after taking the deciding Game 5 of the best of five finals series,64-62.

SWU was poised to win the title as it held a 2-0 advantage entering Game 3 last Sunday but out of nowhere, UV struck back, winning Game 3 in double-overtime and Game 4 last Tuesday to forge the deciding match. (READ MORE)

Lancers force Game 5

PLAYING like there was no tomorrow, the nine-time champions University of the Visayas Green Lancers sent the series to the deciding Game 5 following a 71-66 win in Game 4 that evened the 2013 Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) College Division’s best-of-5 championship series to 2-2 at the Cebu Coliseum last night.

Cobras sweep semis round 1

DEFENDING champions Southwestern University (SWU) Cobras proved unbeatable as they whipped the struggling University of San Carlos (USC) Warriors, 74-59, to sweep their first round assignment.

Cobras were at their usual deadly form but USC was able to put a reasonable resistance.
