    THE Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu Magis Eagles will go for the kill against the struggling University of the Visayas Baby Lancers in Game 2 of the 2014 Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) high school finals series at 5:30 p.m. today at the Cebu Coliseum.

    After their dominating 56-51 win last Tuesday, the Eagles are now primed to win their second Cesafi title against the Baby Lancers, who haven’t beaten the Eagles this season. (READ MORE)

    THE Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu Magis Eagles took out the running game of the University of the Visayas Baby Lancers as they drew first blood with a clinical 56-51 win in Game 1 of the best-of-3 championship series of the 2014 Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) High School Division Basketball tournament at the Cebu Coliseum last night.

    Baby Lancers collect 3rd win in semis

    THE University of the Visayas Baby Lancers used a wicked open court game to beat the stubborn University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) Baby Panthers 69-60 in the semifinal round of the 2014 Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) High School Basketball tournament at the Cebu Coliseum last night.

    JC Escalona, UV’s top performer in open court game punished the napping defense of the Baby Panthers as he scored six straight fastbreak points that helped the Baby Lancers launch a 10-2 run that broke a 37-all deadlock. (READ MORE)

    THE University of the Visayas (UV) Green Lancers proved to be meaner without an import and got off to a good start, 67-6-1, in Game 1 of the best-of-3 series for third place against the University of San Jose-Recoletos Jaguars in the 2014 Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) Basketball tournament in the Cebu Coliseum last Tuesday.

    Today, the Lancers will try to finish off the Jaguars in Game 2 at 6:45, after the high school semifinal round match between UV and the University of Southern Philippines Foundation at 5:15 p.m. (READ MORE)

    THE Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu Magis Eagles got off on the wrong foot and suffered the consequences as they yielded their first game of the season, 57-60, to the hungry Cebu Institute of Technology-University Wildkittens at the start of the second part of the double-round robin semifinal round of the 2014 Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) High School Basketball tournament at the Cebu Coliseum last night.

    The loss was SHS-AdC’s first after 12 games while stalling their outright entry to the championship round while the victory gave hope for the erstwhile winless Wildkittens. (READ MORE)

    TITLE favorites Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) Magis Eagles and the University of the Visayas (UV) Baby Lancers picked their second win in as many games in the continuing semifinal round of the 2014 Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) High School Basketball Tournament at the Cebu Coliseum last night.

    The Magis Eagles rallied in the middle quarters to pick a 66-52 over the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) Baby Panthers win, while the Baby Lancers nearly wasted a 20-point lead before pulling a 77-70 win over the Cebu Institute of Technology-University (CIT-U) Wildkittens.     DESPITE his frustration and disappointments on the on-court and off-court attitude of Jeffakins Aguara, University of the Visayas Green Lancers team manager and Rep. Gerald Anthonoy “Samsam” Gullas Jr. (Cebu Province, first district) is giving the Nigerian import a chance to prove his worth for the team.

    THE University of Visayas suspended Nigerian Jeffakins Aguara and Franciso Arong for the rest of the Green Lancers’s campaign in the 2014 Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) season.

    UV is hoping Commissioner Felix Tiukinhoy Jr. and Philippine Collegiate Champions League (PCCL) executive director Joe Lipa will allow them to replace Aguara with Steve Cedrick Akomo for the upcoming PCCL tournament. (READ MORE)

    THE Southwestern University (SWU) Cobras booked its fourth straight appearance to the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) finals after eliminating the hard-fighting University of San Jose-Recoletos Jaguars (USJ-R) 75-72 in their semifinal match last night in the Cebu Coliseum last night.

    In the highschool division quarterfinal round, No.2 seed University of the Visayas Baby Lancers grabbed a slot in the semifinals after beating No. 7 seed USJ-R Baby Jaguars, 57-53, while the sixth seed University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) Baby Panthers lived to play another day after beating second seed University of San Carlos Baby Warriors, 57-47.
