    AFTER a pre-season that was marred by a walk-out of one of its biggest teams, the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc., has issued a reminder to coaches, players and officials alike to be mindful of their behavior this season.

    Cesafi commissioner Felix Tiukinhoy reminded the coaches that thing that they often overlook, that they not only represent the school and their team, but a community involving everyone in the school—alumni, teachers, students, staff and owners. (READ MORE)

    THE Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) opened the 15th season with a coaches’ and team managers’ meeting at the Cebu Coliseum Friday.

    Commmissioner Felix Tiukinhoy Jr., together with the head of the secretariat Rico Navarro, deputy commissioner Danny Duran and screening committee head Dioscoro Himotas, met the coaches and team managers to talk about the tournament that is set to open on Aug. 1. (READ MORE)

  • Cesafi adopts 2 innovations for new season

    THE Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) will implement two innovations this season to ensure quick emergency response and to motivate players.

    “We will adopt two new policies this season. One, we will require a standby ambulance in all games. We have tapped the University of San Carlos ambulance for this. And additionally, we require each team to have a cheering squad to liven up the match and motivate the players,” Cesafi commissioner Felix Tiukinoy Jr. told Sun.Star Cebu. (READ MORE)

  • USPF Panthers start Cesafi comeback in Sibonga

    THE returning University of Southern Philippines Foundation Panthers will make their first public appearance and will join five other Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) teams in the 2015 Mayor Lionel Bacaltos Cup Cesafi Pre-Season Basketball Tournament in Sibonga town on June 19.

    USPF, which is now under the tutelage of coach Albert Alocillo, is the mystery team in this competition as most schools are unaware what kind of team the new Panthers will be. (READ MORE)

    THE Southwestern University Baby Cobras will make their debut in the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) high school basketball when it opens on Aug. 1.

    Since they returned into the fold of the league in 2006, SWU did not have a high school team without offering any explanation on why they opted not to field a junior basketball team. (READ MORE)

    Cesafi to adjust eligibility in line with K-12 program

     

    THE Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) is adjusting its eligibility rule with its the high school players, especially to schools who has adopted the K-12 program.

    Cesafi commissioner Felix Tiukinhoy Jr. told Sun.Star Cebu that he is recommending to the board to update its high school eligibility rule to adjust to the K-12 program in which the University of San Carlos-Basic Education Department and the Don Bosco Technological Center are adopting.     I MAY disagree a lot with how the Cesafi is run or its policies, but it doesn’t mean that I won’t give credit when it is due. And it is rightfully due to the men and women behind the basketball tournament, which culminated with SWU winning the 2014 title over USC in Game 5.

    Take a bow, ladies and gentlemen, for what transpired this year means next year, and the succeeding years could be a series of “this is the best season yet.” (READ MORE)

    CEBU — The Southwestern University Cobras attacked University of San Carlos Warriors’ weakness – the lack of maturity and experience–to win the deciding Game 5, 64-49, and the 2014 Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) College Basketball title in the Cebu Coliseum Sunday night.

    Shoved into the limelight after eliminating the defending champions University of the Visayas Green Lancers and for reaching Game 5, the Warriors were simply out-powered and outhustled in all aspects of the game by the very composed Cobras. (READ MORE)

    USC forces Game 5

    THE University of San Carlos Warriors showed their hearts and played smart to beat the Southwestern University Cobras, 56-48 in Game 4 of the best-of-5 championship series in the 2014 Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) basketball finals last night at the Cebu Coliseum.

    The series is now tied at 2-2 and both teams will play anew in the deciding Game 5 on Sunday at 6 p.m. (READ MORE)
