    THE University of Cebu Baby Webmasters proved to be the competition spoilers as they defeated the higher-ranked University of San Carlos Baby Warriors 76-66 in the semifinal round of the 2015 Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) high school basketball tournament last night at the Cebu Coliseum.

    And the credit for this overwhelming win went to the diminutive Gelmart Umpad, a flashy point guard from Medellin, Cebu, who nearly logged a triple-double performance while orchestrating the Baby Webmasters offense around the relatively taller USC. (READ MORE)

    THE University of the Visayas Baby Lancers will embark on another tough trial, this time against league-leader and the defending champion Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu Magis Eagles in the semifinal round of the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. high school division at the Cebu Coliseum.

(Cesafi) high school division basketball tournament at the University of San Carlos Main Gym last night.

    The burly power forward dominated the middle as he connected 11-of-23 attempts to lead the Baby Lancers in forcing a do-or-die match for the last slot to the semifinal round. (READ MORE)

    ALJE Mendez once again saved the University of San Carlos as he scored 13 of his 19 points in the final period, including eight in the final 2:16 of the game to help the Baby Warriors secure the second automatic slot to the semifinals following a nail-biting 83-79 win over the University of the Visayas Baby Lancers in the last day of the high school elimination round of the 2015 Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) basketball tournament yesterday at the Cebu Coliseum.

    Both USC and the defending champions Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu Magis Eagles advanced to the semifinal round, while the University of Cebu Baby Webmasters (5-3), University of San Jose-Recoletos Baby Jaguars (5-3), UV (4-4) and the University of Southern Philippines Baby Panthers (4-4) finished third to fifth places, respectively.     THE reigning men’s champion Southwestern University (SWU) opens its title retention bid on a strong note and defeated the University of Cebu (UC), 25-19, 25-17, 25-16 in the 2015 edition of the Cebu Schools Athletics Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) volleyball tournament at the University of San Carlos-Main Gym.

    One of SWU’s key players, Keith Macasero, missed the game but SWU was not affected at all as Alden Dave Cabaron, Carl Alivio, John Edward Carascal stepped up in his absence. (READ MORE)

(Cesafi) College Basketball tournament last night at the Cebu Coliseum.

    Codilla was silent scoring only six points after three quarters and was sitting at the bench for most part of the fourth quarter when he was tapped by coach Cortes to shoot for a triple after Miguel Gastador evened the game at 74-all at the final 31.8 seconds of the game. (READ MORE)

(Cesafi) high school basketball tournament at the Cebu Coliseum yesterday.

    Batang Gilas U-16 mainstay Jed Colonia had another breakout performance to lead an emphatic victory that had the Magis Eagles as the only unbeaten team in the entire basketball competition with a 7-0 win-loss card. (READ MORE)
